The bullfighting ring os Las Ventas in Madrid was affected by a big fire that destroyed the whole circumference formed by the ceilings and the access gallery.

The roof disappeared completely and was quickly reconstructed with a temporary constructive patch that lasted 55 years. Over half a century after the disaster, Madrid's Regional Government has started a project with the aim of retrieving the essence of the original constructive solution that will last until 2021.

This fidelity is especially important as the building was declared in 1994 "Cultural Heritage in the category of Historic-Artistic monuments".

The works started this year consist on removing the curved roof tiles one by one to remove only the damaged ones and combine them with T-42 red tiles from La Escandella. This roof tiles have been selected because of the excellent quality, easy installation and integration with the original pieces.

There will also be conducted a waterproofing work for the areas exposed to rain and a security line of steel will be placed for future maintenance and repair tasks.

La Escandella has a comprehensive experience in refurbishing historic buildings and monuments like the Sacred Convent and Castle of New Calatrava, the Atarazanas Market in Málaga or Toledo's Alzacar.
